Hachioji CampusWind Orchestra Holds Japan-US Joint Concert

On Tuesday, May 6, 2025 (national holiday), a joint Japan-US concert was held at Teikyo University Hachioji Campus by the university's wind ensemble and the Wartburg College Wind Orchestra from the United States. The Wartburg College Wind Orchestra was founded in 1898 and is a proud orchestra with many achievements and traditions, including performing at Carnegie Hall. This joint concert was made possible through an introduction by Shinshu Travel, a travel agency specializing in inbound travel.
On the day, after practicing in separate parts, the bands held a joint concert at Curiosity Hall, where they performed a joint performance in addition to the programs that each band had prepared. At the end of the concert, a social gathering was held in the student cafeteria, allowing the band members to deepen their exchanges. Participating students commented, "We were worried about whether we would be able to communicate well, but we were able to overcome that and communicate with each other. I would like to hold another concert together," "We were worried about whether we would be able to communicate well, but playing together made all our worries disappear and we had a lot of fun. I once again felt that music has the power to transcend language barriers," and "We felt the incredible sound pressure, tone, and power of the American brass band. We will work hard every day to apply what we learned this time to our performances." The joint concert was a valuable opportunity to learn each other's performance methods and knowledge and deepen international understanding.
