Barbell Club students win the 6th Kanto Student Physique Championship

On Saturday, September 13, 2025, the Teikyo University Barbell Club participated in the 6th Kanto Student Physique Championships held at Hino Civic Hall (Hino City, Tokyo). Akiyoshi Yamada (4th year, Faculty of Liberal Arts) won the under-176cm division, Go Murayama (3rd year, Faculty of Law) placed 8th in the under-170cm division, and Kei Izumi (3rd year, Faculty of Economics) and Kotaro Sashida (4th year, Faculty of Economics) placed 9th and 10th in the over-176cm division, respectively. Yamada achieved his second consecutive victory, following his victory last year, and the Barbell Club also placed 3rd in the team competition. This was a highly competitive tournament with over 100 participants, and the four winning students have earned the right to compete in the Physique division of the All-Japan Student Championships to be held on Sunday, September 28th.
The club also participated in the 65th Kanto Student Bodybuilding Championships, held on Sunday, September 14th at Fussa Civic Hall (Fussa City, Tokyo). This was also an extremely high-level competition with over 100 competitors. Yamada and Izumi placed 8th and 16th, respectively, and both earned the right to compete in the All-Japan Student Bodybuilding Championships. While some students unfortunately missed out on winning, competing in a high-level competition helped each of them identify their own challenges and gained meaningful experience that will be useful in the future.
